How HydraFacial Works

The HydraFacial device uses a patented Vortex-Fusion tip to simultaneously deliver and remove fluid from the skin in a continuous loop. This means the treatment is extracting congestion and infusing active serums at the same time; not sequentially. The result is a treatment that addresses multiple skin concerns at once without the inflammation or downtime that harsher exfoliation methods can cause.

A standard HydraFacial follows three steps:

A gentle resurfacing serum loosens debris and dead skin cells from the surface. Unlike a traditional chemical peel, this step does not create visible peeling, redness, or downtime. It preps the skin for extraction by loosening what is inside the pores without irritating the surrounding tissue.

The Vortex tip creates a gentle vacuum that lifts out blackheads, oil plugs, and other debris from the pores. Patients who have had traditional manual extractions often find this step far more comfortable; the device extracts without pressure or squeezing.

Antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid are delivered into the freshly cleaned skin. Because the pores have just been opened by the extraction step, the skin absorbs these actives more effectively than it would through standard topical application. The hyaluronic acid component in particular leaves the skin visibly plumped and hydrated immediately after the session.

HydraFacial Add-Ons and Booster Serums

A standard HydraFacial uses a set of core serums. Booster serums target specific skin concerns and can be added to customize the treatment:

Targets dark spots, sun damage, and uneven skin tone using alpha arbutin and vitamin C.

A peptide-rich booster for patients focused on fine lines, firmness, and anti-aging support.

Connective Tissue Growth Factor booster for patients targeting skin aging and elasticity.

A targeted add-on that addresses the lip area and under-eye zone with specialized exfoliation and hydration. Patients take home the leftover product for continued results. At your appointment, your provider at Novique will assess your skin and recommend the right combination of core treatment and boosters for your goals.

What HydraFacial Treats

HydraFacial is a multi-concern treatment; it is not designed for a single skin type or a single skin problem. It works well for most patients, with some variations in approach based on individual skin needs. At Novique, our providers use HydraFacial to address:

The extraction step is one of HydraFacial’s most distinctive features. The vortex suction lifts out debris from the pores without the redness and irritation that manual extractions or harsh scrubs can leave behind. Patients with consistently congested T-zones often see the most immediate visible improvement after a single session.

The resurfacing and antioxidant infusion steps address dullness at the cellular level. The gentle exfoliation removes the layer of dead cells that causes a flat, tired appearance, and the vitamin C and antioxidant serums brighten the underlying tone. Most patients notice their skin looks more radiant within hours of the treatment.

The hyaluronic acid infused during the final step is one of the most effective skin hydrators available. Patients with chronically dry or dehydrated skin – whether from climate, lifestyle, or skin type – often describe their skin feeling genuinely different after a HydraFacial rather than just temporarily moisturized on the surface.

Regular HydraFacial sessions, particularly with anti-aging booster serums, support collagen maintenance and skin quality over time. This is not an anti-aging treatment in the same category as neurotoxins or fillers; it is a skin health treatment that keeps the surface of the skin in the best possible condition, which makes other anti-aging treatments work better and look more natural.

HydraFacial is generally safe for acne-prone skin and can help reduce the congestion that contributes to breakouts. The extraction step clears pores, and the serums infused during the treatment are formulated to be non-comedogenic. Note: HydraFacial is not a medical acne treatment and is not designed to address active, inflammatory acne lesions. Patients with significant active acne should discuss treatment options with their provider before booking.

With the addition of the BRITENOL booster, HydraFacial can address mild hyperpigmentation, sun spots, and uneven skin tone from UV exposure. Results in this area build over a series of treatments rather than appearing dramatically after one session. For more significant pigmentation concerns, your provider may recommend combining HydraFacial with a chemical peel or photofacial.

Who Is a Good Candidate for HydraFacial?

HydraFacial is appropriate for most skin types, including sensitive skin, and most skin tones. It is not an aggressive treatment; the settings can be adjusted for patients with more reactive skin, and the serums are formulated to minimize irritation. You are a good candidate for HydraFacial if you:

  • Want cleaner pores and a visible improvement in skin texture without downtime
  • Have dull, congested, or dehydrated skin and want to reset the baseline
  • Are preparing for an event and want your skin looking its best with no recovery time
  • Are maintaining results from other treatments (injectables, microneedling, lasers) and want a regular skin health treatment in between
  • Are new to professional skin care and want to start with something comfortable and low-risk

HydraFacial is not recommended if you:

  • Have active rosacea, a sunburn, open wounds, or active inflammatory skin conditions in the treatment area
  • Are currently on Accutane (isotretinoin) or have recently completed a course within the last 6 months
  • Have had a laser resurfacing treatment, deep chemical peel, or dermabrasion within the last 2 weeks
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding (consult with your provider regarding specific booster serums)
